Lewis Banton from Clowne Roadrunners has recently competed in the Jurassic Coast
Challenge. This race involves running 3 marathons on 3 consecutive days over the
extremely hilly terrain (10,000 feet of ascent) of the Dorset Coastline.

Day 1 Involved running from Lyme Regis to Chesil Beach in Weymouth.

Day 2 started at Chesil Beach finishing at Lulworth Cove and

Day 3 began at Lulworth Cove finishing on Studland Bay.

Overall Lewis finished in a very creditable 5th position.

Things didn’t quite go as planned as 6 miles from the finish on day 3 Lewis took a very
heavy fall which resulted in him fracturing his left elbow and receiving multiple cuts to
his legs but he bravely carried on to complete the course. This hasn’t put him off
running at all as hopefully Lewis will be competing in the Three Peaks of Yorkshire
Fell Race in 4 weeks time.

Lewis was sponsored for the Jurassic Coast Challenge with all monies going to Sport
Relief.

Also taking part was Steve Battle from Worksop Harriers who finished 69th.
